His energetic yet relaxed approach integrates ancient wisdom with modern, practical concepts and real-life experience.
He is a charismatic
presence and a compelling speaker.

dynamic, and inspirational style of teaching has empowered many to reach

“Sensei John's
knowledge was impressive and reassuring. His level of passion is
something that one finds less rather than more in teachers.”
~ Kelsey D.
As president and co-founder of
EarthCoach
Institute, Inc., John has found the perfect way to “help others help
themselves” with his unique skill set. The distinctive brand of
EarthCoach health and wellness education is available
online and
on-location because, as John often says, "Life's too short!"
John’s career as a self-defense expert spans 25 years, and includes a
specialization in personal protection and event security in the corporate
and private sectors.
His
Southern California dojo, Sound of the Sun, was
the first martial arts studio in Los Angeles to specialize in teaching
personal safety to women.
After working closely with the Los Angeles
Police Department, John created a successful community-based personal
safety workshop called ‘Safer in the City.’ This popular monthly
presentation was frequently hosted by local businesses and attended by
countless pairs of mothers and their teenage daughters.
“’Safer In The
City’ featured real life stories without intense scare tactics.
Sensei John King has such a calm teaching style. I enjoyed
the workshop.”
~ Jan D.
In
response to requests from concerned real estate agents, John created John created the Real Estate Safety Association of America,
R.E.S.A.A.
Its mission is to help prevent the nationwide trend of violent acts
against real estate professionals from becoming a local reality. With
agents, he analyzed the potentially dangerous manner in which most open
houses and home showings were performed. Then he developed improved
standard operating procedures and realtor-specific personal safety
strategies. Finally, he taught “No-Nonsense Self-Defense” techniques
to hundreds of forward thinking brokers, realtors and agents at
professional associations and local offices.
As
he gathered information for these life-saving workshops, he carefully
organized it and wrote the acclaimed e-book entitled “Are You AWARE?
Acting With Awareness in Real Estate.” This supplemental learning
guide is
available online for real estate professionals.
This is just one example of how Sensei John
often solves a client’s safety and security problem in a very practical
way.
"I was so
impressed with John’s knowledge, sincerity, and dedication.
We had over 25 realtors attend, including the staff at my
office. It was thoroughly enjoyable and informative. I
highly recommend this program to all, and look forward to
hosting another in the near future!"
~ David H., Home Loan Experts
His
becoming a highly skilled bodyguard evolved from a decade of late nights
touring the world as a professional drummer, including a USO tour
throughout the Middle East, Europe and Africa. He has since had the
privilege of ensuring the wellbeing of many high profile clients who
prefer anonymity, including popular bands, noted entertainers, renowned
actors, professional wrestlers, and even the late San Diego Padres
baseball star, Ken Caminitti.
Early in life, John began to develop an
ever-present “safety consciousness” by absorbing the almost daily lessons
provided by his ever vigilant father. The U.S. Marine turned professional
firefighter utilized his real life experiences to teach his son more about
safety than most people will ever know.
Naturally, John became “the eternal student,” and first learned of Aikido
and Reiki while attending
The William Penn
Charter School. From this simple introduction, he followed a strong
inner calling to pursue both of these Japanese arts.
John draws on this lifetime of
participation in these eastern arts to deliver inspirational, educational
and unforgettable presentations to his audiences.
“‘Safer In The
City’ was both informative and fun! Sensei John presented his
points very well, and they were always supported by
excellent examples.”
~ Alex H.
